Do I need to register for small boat trailer?
I have a boat trailer that I just returned from a friend of a friend than a year ago. He gave me no share purchase agreement … no paperwork at all. It is a single axle and well under 2,000 lbs. The boat can carry up to 2 adults (very small engineless Boat). Do I need to register this trailer with WA DOL? Even if it is illegal if the trailer tail lights do not work?

Followers are hard to drive. Right? That's what I always thought, because when I was 16 years old, and had been driving for a few months ago I had our 17 'boat ride on the lake.
It was so hard to keep that trailer in the lane at highway speeds. It was diverted all over. I thought that was the way supporters should be. I had no idea it was even more traumatic experience in my future.
One evening I was towing a 2 place ATV trailer down a City street, when it started swinging out of control, tosses the car back and forth over 4 lanes. No matter what I did, I could not regain control of the vehicle and trailers. The brakes seemed to make it worse. All I could do was my foot off the brake and gas pedal and take control of everything I was worth.
And finally, the speed began to fall and the rocking action to put at about 10 mph I was able to brake and come to a standstill. Cars had stopped and pulled from the street to my room. Luckily I have not beaten anybody.
What was the problem?
THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED is inadequate?
Was there something WRONG WITH THE TRAILER?
It was an ATV trailer that I had used dozens of times before, with the same car towed away, and it was with much heavier Expense load.
So, what happened?
It is a magical concept called "tongue weight" in the trailers world. Tongue weight is the downward Power of the ATV trailer coupling applies to the hitch ball.
HERE IS THE SECRET!
If there is not enough tongue weight, or even negative tongue weight (in where the coupling actually draws on the hitch ball), the ATV trailers are unstable at moderate or high speeds.
How do you avoid this Problem?
Recommended for ATV trailer tongue weight of 10% to 15% of the total weight of the trailer and load. This means that you are 10 to 15% of the Weight near the front of the trailer load.
For example: 2 place ATV trailer with 2 large ATV's should weigh about 2200 pounds on loaded. So the minimum tongue weight would be 220 pounds. An even better ratio would be 15% or 330 pounds.
Most trailer hitches and couplings for at least 500 pounds of tongue weight are evaluated. If the tongue weight of about 10% and below the maximum rating of the clutch and smoothly, this is in the correct range.
Remember: Too much tongue weight is far better that too little.
HOW one, White HOW MUCH TONGUE weight on the ATV trailer?
You can make a small designed specifically for trailers, which cost about 125.00 or about 10.00 you can take it to a truck-scales.
Put the wheels of the trailer on the Scale unwinding of the trailer and pull the tractor out of the scale. In this way, the weight of the tongue is the only thing that is measured.
I would not Recommend to your bathroom scales. When I tried that, it just folded in half.
To achieve a proper tongue weight, load to the heaviest ATV the front of the trailer and pull it as far forward as possible. Then load the lighter ATV in the back. If the trailer for ATV's should be a tongue Weight in the correct range income developed.
Do not simply assume that you have the proper tongue weight have to check. If you do not Possibility to verify it does it take for a trailer hitch shop or store and they have to check it for you.
Whenever you are Towing a trailer loaded speed for the first time, too slow.
Acceleration to 30 mph and see if the ATV trailer feels stable themselves. If this the case, then accelerate to 40 km / h, recheck. You want to feel no vibration or swaying of the trailer. If 40 mph feels good and try to Then, a solid 50, then 60, then 70, and 75
The trailer will be firmly behind the towing vehicle at any speed. If not get to slow down immediately and They are professional help to resolve the problem, since losing control of your truck and trailer will ruin your whole day.
