Potential kidney transplant need advice.?
My father was reacently with a mass on his left kidney diagnosed, he is a 51 y / o diabetic with HTN. The Dr's do not know whether he will be able to function properly with only 1, I'm an exact match with him so I asked which I am a releativly healthy 27 / m HTN is easy to control even with my medication. I smoke Ca. 1 pack per day, but I am of trying to quit, tell me my Dr. I am about 25 kilos over wieght. In addition to the loss of 25kg and smoking, it's something else I need to do, I want to be healthy and ready in case of my Father not at the end needs my kidney. I rarely drink, I am a full-time EMT and a volunteer fire department I am leading a fairly active life. All the doctors or nurses surg suggest that proposals have would be greatly appreciated.
It's definitely awesome that you are this way for your father. I had a lung transplant one years and a half ago and it was thought that perhaps I would have a kidney transplant at the same time have. The best advice I can give you is to definitively with quit smoking, lose weight, do not drink what damage to your body and try to keep your other organs in good health. You will probably Check your other organs to ensure that they are suitable as well. Other than to keep the low-sodium, the HTN under control, and many prayers for My Dad!
